(tty) this method uses a low torque application to establish an equal snug torque position. Torque to yield fasteners are stretched to the point that they are, just about to “yield” or lose their springiness. This torque is called the snug torque and its purpose is to pull (or ‘snug’) the plates of the joint into metal to metal contact.

Torque to yield is the method of tightening a fastener so that a high preload is achieved by tightening up the yield point of the fastener material.
